Statement of Beliefs Statement of Beliefs

OUR STATEMENT OF BELIEFS

We Believe

1. The Scriptures *Inspired - The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct. He word “inspire” means...

 a. to influence, move, or guide by divine or supernatural inspiration  b. to breathe or blow into or upon, as life, by breathing c. to  infuse into the mind; to communicate to the spirit; to convey, as by a divine or supernatural influence;  d. to disclose supernaturally as by inspiration.  e. to inhale as opposed to exhale. [Websters]

2. The One True God - The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent "I AM," the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The terms "Trinity" and "persons" as related to the Godhead, while not found in the Scriptures, are words in harmony with Scripture. Because of their mentioned characteristics i.e.: They see, hear, speak, feel, think and reason. They can be offended, pleased or angered. They perform, they are merciful forgiving, they punish and reward, etc. Etc. Etc.

3. The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ - The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was in the beginning with God and the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1) He is the Savior of mankind (Genesis 3:15; John 3:16) and is eternal. He is the Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end (Rev. 1:8) Note: See the names of Jesus.

4. The Fall of Man - Man was created good and upright. However, man by voluntary transgression fell and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God. Man’s fall came about in the Garden of Eden when they disobeyed God’s commandment not to eat the fruit of the tree in the center of the garden.

The anatomy of sins: Eve saw, admired, desired, (lusted). Satan took advantage of Eve’s weakness and lied to her. Satan lied to Eve and she began to doubt God, and took of the forbidden fruit, and sin was conceived.

· The wages of sin; eternity in the Lake of Fire.

· This is what Jesus came to save us from.

5. The Salvation of Man - Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God. Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. The inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit. The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness.

Without the shedding of Christ’s blood there would be no redemption of sin. (Hebrews 9:22). That was God’s part, our part is to acknowledge tht we are sinners, believe the gospel message, (John 3:160, confess our sins to God (I John 1:9) and receive God’s gift of salvation by faith and not by works, (Ephesians 2:7-8) and depart from sin. (2Timothy 2:19b)

6. The Ordinances of the Church - (a) Baptism in Water and (b) Holy Communion

· Something ordered by God to be done or carried out in obedience.

  • Water baptisim: Mattew 28:19,20)
  • Holy Commun ion: (Luke 22:19,20)

7. The Baptism in the Holy Ghost - All believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire.

  • Joel 2:2; Acts 1:7,8; Luke 24:49

8. The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Ghost - The baptism of believers in the Holy Ghost is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues “as the Spirit of God gives them utterance”.

  • Acts 2:1-4, 19:1-6

9. Sanctification - Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God. The Scriptures teach a life of "holiness without which no man shall see the Lord".

  • Psalm 1; II tim 2:19; Romans 6:1-23, 8:1-17,

10. The Church and Its Mission – The mission of the church is to fulfil the great comission in our generation. To be; (as) an agency of God for evangelizing the world; (b) To be a corporate body in which man may worship God; (c) To be a channel of God's purpose to build a body of saints being perfected in the image of His Son.

  • Mark 16:15-18

11. The Ministry - A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for the threefold purpose of leading the Church.

  • 1). Preach the gospel 2). Make disciples 3). Send missionaries and evangelists.

12. Divine Healing - Divine healing is an integral part of the gospel. Deliverance from sickness is provided for in the atonement, and is the privilege of all believers.

  • Isaiah 53, James 1:14-16

13. The Blessed Hope - The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the imminent and blessed hope of the church.

 14. The Millennial Reign of Christ - The second coming of Christ

  • Acts 1:8-11; Revelation 2:4-10

15. The Final Judgment - There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

16. The New Heavens and the New Earth - "We, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness"
